Did anyone else see the NU vs. TT replay on FoxSports last night. I had several observations:
1. Our line couldn't run block (except Fonoti).
2. That made us pass more, and it is amazing what a bad passer Eric Crouch was. INTs, key misses, etc. The two factors above made for an inconsistent offense. 523 yards but big trouble closing drives with TDs in key situations.
3. Frank Solich's terrible play calling and 'game management.' The pre-margarita Lil' General was an embarrassment.
4. The collection of stiffs we had on defense. Erwin Swiney might be the worst CB in NU history. Torched EVERY play (this is the least of his problems since he recently was tossed in the slammer a la Thunder Collins, another player on the field this game). He was getting extra reps because Craver went down in the 2nd half. Philip Bland, Demoine Adams, Pat Ricketts, Jamie Burrow, Ruuuuuuuuuuud, and one I forgot about who was TRULY horrible...Dion Booker. The guy didn't wrap up and drive someone down ONCE in his life. Just struggled to drag the offensive player down. The only good hit he made was when he whiffed on a tackle and almost knocked DeJaun Groce out of the game.
5. Groce, and Dahrran Diedrick, were NU's only two bright spots in my opinion. I remember the next season when our best offense was Groce back in punt return formation. He was one of the few studs we had.
