8/12/2009--Morning Thoughts....

1. This is seriously the best competition NU can muster at weakside linebacker? A guy we've heard about for two years but hasn't made a play vs. a walk-on from Imperial...maybe respectability is still a few years out....the battle at the other LB positions also includes an impressive lineup of has-beens and never-will-bes......

2. Quentin Castille wants to become a big lead blocker.....great....how about learning how not to lay the ball on the carpet once every five carries?

3. Husker Fan Dildo of the Day Award....Matt Turman, a guy who couldn't throw the ball more than 20 yards? Please. See below. And I will take Damon Benning any day over Barry Sanders, because he is a nicer guy. And pk, please end your attempts at sarcasm & humor...you're embarrassing yourself.

Name one coach who has ever started his son at QB and had success. I think Colorado is a fine team, but I'll take Matt Turman over Cody Hawkins any day. Reminds me of a guy named Mack Brown who threw away a national championship or two because he promised a pro QB named Simms that his son would start over a guy named Applewhite who was the best QB ever to play at Texas not named Young. Does anyone remember a guy named Callahan and his blinding love affair with a QB from Arizona State? Will this end in tears, Tom?

Something tells me that Hawkins' son Cody is either going to make or break his time at Colorado.

4. Danny Woodhead's getting props at NY Jets camp.....how long until he gets cut?

5. Rick Pitino....Ouch.....Nothing I've seen mentions his marital status at the time when he railed the skank at a Louisville restaurant....I guess high-end Italian restaurants don't have condom machines in the restrooms anymore? I didn't see one at Fazoli's last night. Or maybe the bathroom attendant was fresh out of Lifestyles.....Other great details that are left out of certain reports.....the fact that the chick he railed got married six months later to UL's strength coach, Pitino was getting bottle blasted at the restaurant, and whether is not the shriveled up Pitino needs Viagra to get his pasta 'al dente' these days.....

6. Kyle Korver's Golf Tournament still has openings.....I can't believe a $1500/foursome tournament hosted by an NBA role player is still open. The fine residents of Omaha should be jumping at the chance to pay $400 to play a $50 course....no offense, Shadow Ridge....

  1. I agree regarding the comments about our concerns at weak side LB. On the other hand it sure is refressing to at least have the the walk on program back. I like to think that it will at least bring some meaning to what it means to be a Husker. If the past shows us anything its that you don't always have to be gifted with the best talent, you just need that disire to do anything you can to help the team. Lets not forget about great players like walk on Jared Tomich and others that didn't have all the talent but played major roles in the Husker success like Andrew Shanle.

  2. Last thing I remember about Shanle was him fumbling away the Cotton Bowl.....at least it made me forget all his other blunders...
