Hefty Takes the Tour Championship

The fact that Phil Mickelson stole the spotlight from Tiger Woods by winning the Tour Championship yesterday was priceless. Had all the usual suspects not choked away their spots up top, Mickelson even had a chance to win the FedEx Cup. By the way, has there ever been a more meaningless, contrived championships in sports than the FedEx Cup? These guys are so rich, really, what is $10 million...or $5 million after taxes??

Woods acted like he'd just won $300 in merchandise at his local pro shop. And Johnny Miller's post-round interview was the perfect combination of creepy, annoying and humorous to be worthwhile. He even got a fake laugh out of Woods when bringing up the fact that Mickelson won the tournament. If you want to make this thing truly exciting, have a year-end championship where these guys have to pony up $1 million of their own money and then the winner takes all! Most exciting to PYB was the fact that Woods couldn't even beat a watered-down field of 30 and got boatraced by his arch-rival in the process.

No word on whether Phil had to collect his prize one dollar at a time between his man boobs....

  1. It's funny how the field is always considered watered down since Tiger has been winning.
