He is also full of shit. I'm sure he will get all kinds of great press for this one....getting fined for criticizing a PGA Tour official for putting his group on the clock. This supposedly because he was defending Padraig Harrington who was rushed and blew his drive on 16 into the trees...then butchered a punch-out shot, then got nervous and blew it in the rough then skulled his chip into the water.....hell, a penalty would have hurt less than making triple bogey. But I digress, had Eldrick been truly concerned that their 'great duel' had been ruined by an official rushing them, why not say: "Take your time, if you get penalized I will take a penalty too and we will be even." Because he knew he was on the ropes and he is busy collecting minor championships with watered-down or less-than-full fields since he can't win majors anymore.
Pretty sickening, as he could land an 8-iron from 150 yards 20 feet from the pin in a practice round, and the Golf Channel would put it in its list of 20-greatest shots of all time. Not as sickening as watching grown men in the media cower in fear when they interview him or laugh at every nerdy joke he cracks. Sure he runs golf, but if you don't have the balls to stand up to him, find a new profession.
You have no idea what you are rambling about! I can't decide if it's ignorance, racism, jealousy or all of the above. You obviously can't comprehend the social, cultural and geo-political ramifications he is having on the game of golf, the world of sports, and history in general! After he is done conquering the game of golf, don't be suprised if he balances the budget, reforms our healthcare system and single-handedly solves global-warming! He could do it! Just ask anybody at The Golf Channel!!
ReplyDeleteWho else has brought more people to the game? So what if they are all scum, don't know anything about the game, tear-up courses en route to 5 1/2 hour rounds and couldn't break 130? Who cares if they'd rather watch Eldrick shoot 74 and finish t-55th than watch a 59 year-old legend and 5-time British Open Champion accomplish the unthinkable!
C'mon...it takes a finely tuned athlete to bitch about photographers, give odd hand gestures after missing a putt signaling a break that couldn't POSSIBLY be there, slam clubs, destroy tee boxes, rake a putter across the green, swear & curse and refuse post-round interviews after a bad round...while at the same time grinning ear-to-ear, joking with Stevie, twirling the club after average shot, and running around the green fist-pumping and beating on chest like a gorilla on a piece of Sampsonite luggage after winning a tournament while your opponent who just lost, has his hat in hand waiting to congratulate you? It takes a focused athlete of immense proportions to not be a gentleman like that! Nicklaus, Palmer, Snead, Hogan, Nelson and Jones couldn't do it!!!
They also never had 20 people move a 2 ton boulder (I mean loose impediment) so they could have a clear shot, blow an iron onto the freaking CLUBHOUSE, only to get a "free drop" because THAT is not out-of-bounds, and constantly shoot even or 1 under in the final round only to see the "best players in the world" cave to the pressure! Those guys had rivals that could stand up to the competition and perform...not simply be content with top 25's and collect $10million/year!
