Monday Musings...

Random thoughts as I read today's sports news:

1. Usain Bolt runs 9.58....Who cares? Well actually I do a little...a lot more than when NBC is force-feeding us Michael Phelps like he's on the same level as MJ or anyone else who plays a real sport.

2. Is there any doubt Beanie Wells will be a huge NFL flop? He's been out 16 days with an ankle injury and was soft as butter in college. Check out his tank job in the Fiesta Bowl last season.

3. Donovan McNabb holds press conference to talk about Ron Mexico signing: Why???

4. Cubs need to sweep San Diego...STL is at LA at the same time, could be the last good chance to make up ground to be within striking distance as they make up the five fewer GP than the Cards....

5. After a mild hot streak, Alex Gordon's goes 0/4 with 2 Ks and brings have average down to .207. If he doesn't have a good 2010, he will officially be a flop. He put up big numbers at NU, but in pressure situations and big games he was suspect. In person, his swing wasn't nearly what Darin Erstad's was....

6. Red Sox lose Wild-Card lead....hopefully this remains the case so we're spared the postseason annoyance that are Red Sox fans....has there ever been a bigger bandwagon following than this one? Everyone's a supposed super fan, singing along to Neil Diamond's & the Dropkick Murphys' worst songs, respectively....

7. USOC backs off TV network plans...probably a good plan since the Games are corrupt, and nobody would watch....actually I would watch if they showed something besides figure skating and 80-pound circus midgets dancing around with ribbons in their hands.....
