Driver stops cop, hands over vodka
A La Vista police officer found himself making an unusual drunken driving arrest this week.
Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, a 69-year-old Omaha man flashed the lights of his white Buick Century at the cruiser of a police officer near Portal and Hupp Roads.
When the officer pulled over to check on the man's well being, the motorist told Sgt. Kraig Gomon that he was too drunk to drive. The man then handed Gomon an unopened liter of vodka. Gomon and another officer, who responded to the scene, noticed the man smelled of alcohol.
During the incident, the motorist told the La Vista officers that he had begun consuming alcohol around 10 a.m. He said that he had six drinks of Vodka before deciding to contact the police officers and that his last drink was around 8:30 p.m., about 30 minutes earlier.
He told police that he contacted them because he shouldn't have been driving and couldn't keep on the road, according to police.
The man failed field sobriety tests and also a preliminary breath test, La Vista police said. He was booked into the Sarpy County Jail on suspicion of drunken driving. His blood-alcohol content tested at 0.103, which is above Nebraska's legal limit of 0.08 to be considered drunk.
What a gay...103 after 12hrs of booze? True studs would be .275 and face down woth a bouncer's knee on their neck at the NZone.
